Sacrificial Scholars Past and Present

Join us and explore a part of Seoul that encompasses ancient tombs to  modern scholars. This cultural excursion begins in the Noryangjin area by visiting Grand Prince Yangnyeong Daegun’s grave; the elder brother of King Sejong. For Yangnyeong, life was too good to be a mere king. Learn about the scandals and palace intrigues that led to the succession of King Sejong.

At Sayuksin Park we will be discovering Korea’s complicated past monarchs and martyred scholars. Become immersed in both the beauty of the memorial as well as the sordid details of family betrayal of King Sejong’s grandson  and the story of Korea’s subsequent growth.

Finally, we learn about the lifestyle, exam process and best of all; food of the modern scholar! We end out excursion learning about the hard-working students of the Cup-bap area. You may even find your new favorite food!
